What are you bringing forward with you, 2008 to 2009?
I want you to think for just a moment of all the things you watched, learned, saw, and felt during your Christmas holidays. When you observed your friends, your family and those you allowed being around you during the holidays, did you allow yourself to truly see? Did you hear what they were saying? I wonder did you truly receive every language they were offering to communicate with you. Did you watch their body language, the truthfulness of their smiles or the shine in their eyes? Were you listening to the tones in their voices and the motion of their hands?
Language is all around us, bringing us so many new things we simply don’t slow down to even notice. This year unexpectedly my father passed away, a sudden aneurism, changing so much around me. This Christmas whiling missing both my parents who have now passed away, I made certain to take time to look, to truly notice my family, my friends and those I worked with through 2008. I took time to notice their eyes and the honesty coming from their unspoken words they were giving. I took each opportunity to truly hear the tone in their voices. I could truthfully hear their passion or lack of passion as they spoke. I watched their own comfort within them as they wriggled their hands, shifted their train of thought and fidgeting in their place. Through my life, I had been taught if you were willing to watch others you were then willing to learn so much from them. No one told me, that while learning and watching him or her, I could learn more about myself.
In the year 2008, I took a new adventure of taking neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) classes. Some consider NLP as a science dealing with the neural mechanisms underlying the comprehension, and abstract knowledge of language rather it is spoken, signed, or written. Another concept of NLP is that of language, communication and thought together which holds people can improve their interaction with the world. I ventured into this portion of my journey through a friend's invitation to attend a “free class”.
The class atmosphere engulfed me with people who were truly seeking answers and searching deep within to create better what is already inside them. These were people willing to be totally open, exposed if you will, to grow greater than they truly ever knew they could before. I became very impressed with the teachers, the atmosphere they are building, and the people that are being drawn to this group that I am now a part.
This one of the greatest markings in my life that is still bringing a great learning of flexibility in every area of my life. I am learning to grow faster surprising me while taking me into a greater eagerness to learn. I find myself desperate to discover the deeper truth of myself while adding the flexibility to change what needs to be improved within me.
I challenge you to such growth in 2009 that you are eager to continue to learn more.
